She was also well-known for her other roles. She is well recognized for her role as Max Goof in the animated series Goof Troop, in which she worked as a voice actress. Due to the fact that Hill’s diabetes stunted her physical development, she frequently had to portray younger roles far into her teenage years and beyond.
Dana Lynne Goetz was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 6, 1964. Her parents, Theodore Arthur “Ted” Goetz, who directed commercials, and Sandy Hill were her parents.Hill had already achieved national recognition at the age of eleven, finishing third in the 880-yard run and fourth in the mile run. A few weeks later, she passed out while running on the track, which led to the conclusion that she had type 1 diabetes and put an end to her career as an athlete.
The diabetes prevented her from developing normally and has left her with health problems that will last a lifetime. In spite of her father’s extreme disapproval, Hill began her career in advertisements. Her first employment was in a 1973 ad for the YMCA, in which she was shown spinning a basketball on her finger with Boston Celtics center Dave Cowens. She chose to go by her mother’s maiden name and pursue a career in acting in order to avoid giving the impression that she was favoring her own family.
Before obtaining the lead role of Gabrielle “Gabby” Gallagher on the 1981–1982 season of the CBS series The Two of Us, she made cameo appearances on television shows such as Family in smaller parts. When Hill was filming this series, the police would occasionally pull her over on the way to the studio because they thought she looked too young to be driving. Hill was just 17 years old at the time.
