Donnie Fancher Obituary, Death Cause – On July 9, 2023, Donnie Lee Fancher passed away in the comfort of his own home at the age of 80. Donnie had spent his entire life in the Centre community of Kentucky. On the farm his parents owned, where he was born and raised, he remained active in agriculture for the rest of his life. Donnie had a soft spot in his heart for Holstein cattle and John Deere tractors. Anyone who engaged him in conversation could anticipate having an in-depth discussion about farming. It was fun for him to spend time working outside on the tractor. He instilled in his many daughters, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren the importance of hard work on the farm as well as an appreciation for the rural way of life.
Donnie was a devoted fan of University of Kentucky basketball and enjoyed keeping up with the community by frequenting Centre Store, where he could also catch up on the latest headlines. Donnie’s father and mother, William Harrison Fancher and Lillie Mouser Fancher, as well as his brother, Chester Ray Fancher (Forestine), his only daughter, Kathy Slinker, his granddaughter Charity Newton, and his great-granddaughter Evelyn Rodenberg, all passed away before him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years.
Janus Fancher, of Center; two daughters, Anita Whisman, of Cave City and Amanda Newton (Charles), of Center; his brother, DalGene Fancher (Ramona), of Center; grandchildren, Nicole Rodenberg (Austin), of LaGrange, Kellie Mann (Tyler), of Somerset, and Jace Newton, of Center; great-grandchildren, Blakely Mann, Mollie Mann, Willa Mann, Liam Rodenberg, and Mila Rodenberg. It was a blessing for Donnie to have such amazing carers as Paula Carpenter, Kaye Simpson, and Dorothy Crain who were by his side 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the days leading up to his passing.
