Howard Zager Obituary, Death – We are all deeply grieved by the news of Howard Zager’s demise. He was a beloved English teacher at CCHS for many years. Mr. Zager served for the CCUSD as an educator beginning in 1972 and continuing until 2010. Even after he left his teaching position, Mr. Zager continued to be a dependable substitute teacher all the way up until the present academic year. He was very proud of his membership in CCFT and made it a point to remain current on all of the most recent news and activities that were occurring within the union on a consistent basis.
Mr. Zager was a shining example of what it meant to be a great teacher since he was someone who genuinely cared about his pupils and put their requirements ahead of his own at all times. On behalf of everyone at CCFT and our colleague union, ACE, we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.Everyone will grieve his passing in their own unique ways. This news has left me feeling terribly depressed and helpless. My son was one of the many students who were profoundly impacted by the legacy that Mr. Zager left behind.
He had Mr. Zager as a substitute teacher when he was in school. When we were flying to Portland in November, my son, who is now 16 years old, was so excited to meet “Mr. Zager” that he asked him for a selfie as we were boarding the plane. This took place right after we had encountered him earlier. The expressions on the faces of the people around us, who were certain that Howard must be a famous celebrity, gave us with a great lot of enjoyment. These individuals were persuaded that Howard must be a well-known star.
