Joanne Croken Obituary, Death – The demise of Claire Francis Croken, who was 86 years old and had been ill for a relatively short period of time, was announced by her family on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, with a great deal of sorrow due to the fact that she had passed away. Dedicated and cherished daughter of the late Helen (Donovan) and John McAnneny. Joseph Eugene Croken Sr., who had been Claire’s spouse for 47 years, passed away before she did.
Claire Croken, a native of Somerville, Massachusetts, and a longtime resident of Malden, Massachusetts, is survived by her three children: Joanne Croken of Malden, Charlene Walker of Stowe, Vermont, and her husband Chris Walker, as well as her son Joseph Croken Jr. of Malden. They will always remember their mother and cherish the memories they have of her. Callie, Claire’s granddaughter, with whom she shared a very unique bond, fondly remembers her grandmother and thinks of her often.
In addition to a number of nieces, nephews, and dear close friends, Claire is survived by her treasured brother Kevin McAnneny of Brockton and her adored sister Doris O’Meara of Medford. Also surviving are a number of additional nieces, nephews, and close friends. Claire was a member of the boards of directors for a great number of organizations, some of which include the Board of Appeals in Malden, as well as the Zonta and Junior Aide chapters in Malden, and the Visiting Nurses Association at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
A funeral procession will leave the George L. Doherty Funeral Home located at 855 Broadway (Powder House Square) in Somerville on Saturday morning, July 14th at 9am. This will be followed by a funeral mass that will take place in the St. Clement Parish located at 71 Warner Street in Medford at 10am.
