Jose Martinez Obituary, Death Cause – It is with a heavy heart that I have to break the news to you that Jose Martinez, my longtime friend and fellow teammate dating all the way back to 1991, died away late yesterday evening. This image was taken at Newark Bears stadium in Newark during the final game of the USOTB league around the year 2010, when we were competing for the title. Jose was on the mound, and I was playing third base during that game.
When Jose and I first started playing baseball, we were on a number of different teams together, including the Metuchen Mets, the Yankees, the Livingston Dodgers, the Spanish League in Passaic, and we even made regular trips to Puerto Rico to compete there. It is inconceivable that one could have found a friend or teammate who could compare favourably to you. Jose resigned as a sergeant from the Maplewood Police Department, where he had served previously, after having put in a total of 38 years of service there.
In spite of the fact that Jose was 78 years old, he was in substantially better shape than the vast majority of people who were under the age of 40. Our sincerest condolences go out to Lisa, his longtime friend and a partner in crime (lol), who cared for him right up until he left this world and went on to play baseball on the great baseball diamond in the sky. Lisa served as his accomplice in the heist. He was an exceptionally extraordinary and unique person. Both my friend and my teammate are going to be very absent in my life from now on. Brother, I pray that you are eventually able to find peace in your life.
