Joyce Engstrom Obituary, Death – Authorities have provided more details about the tragic accident that occurred at the Camp Winnebago Rally in Forest City, Iowa, on Sunday night. According to the Iowa State Patrol’s investigation, a Ford F-150 was towing a two-axle trailer with benches around the rally grounds shortly after 6:45 PM. Unfortunately, the trailer became unhooked during this time.
She was immediately airlifted to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for medical treatment, but sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away. In the wake of this devastating incident, Winnebago Industries, the organizers of the event formerly known as the Winnebago Grand National Rally, has taken steps to support the attendees. Grief counselors have been made available for those who were present at the rally to provide support and assistance during this difficult time.
As a result of the unhooking, the tongue of the trailer struck the hitch of the truck when it came to a stop. This caused the trailer to move backward, breaking the safety chain in the process. Tragically, the occupant of the trailer attempted to jump off the trailer but was tragically dragged under it. The victim of this heartbreaking accident has been identified as 76-year-old Joyce Engstrom of Frontenac, Minnesota.
