Lethuxolo Letha Zulu Obituary, Death – The shocking news of the demise of DHS’s Director of Basketball, Mr. Lethuxolo ‘Letha’ Zulu, has left everyone at the school in a state of profound grief. Mr. Zulu began his career at DHS in 2007 as a member of the sports department. He was promoted to the position of Director of Basketball a few years later. In addition to that, he was an enthusiastic Physical Education instructor.
During his time at DHS, he was heavily involved in the coaching of a number of different teams. These teams included the KZN Basketball team, the UKZN Men’s team, and he was also a part of the South African Schools setup. We would like to extend our sympathies to Mr. Zulu’s family and friends, as well as to the Old Boys and current DHS Boys with whom he had developed meaningful relationships. The news is terrible.
A wonderful and kind individual who gave his all to both the team he played for and the educational institution. Because of his extensive expertise and unwavering dedication to quality, he garnered a great deal of respect among the Basketball world. Because he had so much to give, it has left me with a profound sense of loss. It is a terrible tragedy, and I want to offer my deepest sympathies to his family and all of his other loved ones.
All of those who knew Mr. Zulu, a true icon at Durban High School, are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I am beyond heartbroken to learn of the demise of such an incredible human being. It was obvious that he cared deeply about both his teammates and his profession. His presence could be felt throughout the school, and the boys treated him with the utmost deference; this regard was well-deserved, given his dedication to the sport and his ability to mentor the young athletes. An icon whose company I will sorely miss, may you rest in peace, kind Sir Deo Fretus
