Mary Jewelene Obituary, Death – Mary “Jewel” Lovelady, who resided in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away in a serene and peaceful manner on July 17, 2023. Her passing occurred on that date. She was already 84 years old at the time. Jewel was most well-known for her witty sense of humor, her talent in the arts, and her ability to cultivate plants. She also had a reputation for being a plant grower. She worked as a florist for a large amount of time at Downey’s Florist in Hixson, which was located in the city. Her hobbies and pursuits included things such as gardening, ceramics, and cross stitching. Her interests and passions ranged widely.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Hollis Murphy Roberts of Pikeville, Tennessee; her first husband Wayne Daniel of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; her second husband William C Lovelady of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; her brothers Billy Roberts of Durham, North Carolina, Don Roberts of Woodstock, Georgia, and Gary Roberts of Pikeville, Tennessee; and her sisters Helen (Kenneth) Boston of Irving, Texas, and Shirley (Arnold) Bailey of Jasper, Tennessee. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, relatives, and close friends, one of whom is Johnnie Bailey of Jasper, Tennessee. She also leaves behind a number of personal acquaintances.
At Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Saturday, July 22, there will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. EDT, a funeral service at 11 a.m. EDT, and then a graveside service at 12 p.m. EDT. Brother Tommy Taylor will preside over all of these events. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. EDT. The Hamilton Memorial Gardens will be the location of the visitation.
