Meghan Raveis Obituary, Death – The Caretaker was transporting children when she tragically struck Meghan Raveis, according to the Fairfield Police Department. Jul 18, 2023, 4:17pmSince six hours ago Police said that the caretaker who is being prosecuted in connection with the death of a pedestrian who was a member of the William Raveis Real Estate family was driving with three children in the car at the time of the collision.
They allege that Newtown resident Meghan Rice, who was 51 years old at the time of the accident, was driving at approximately 31 miles per hour when she over a double yellow line on Redding Road, struck a mailbox, and then hit Meghan Raveis as she was out walking on her 45th birthday. According to what they’ve heard, the maximum speed allowed on the road in that location is 25 miles per hour.
According to the authorities, Rice works as a babysitter and was driving about with three children in her Jeep Wagoneer. They claim that Rice and the children were unharmed in the accident and that she remained at the scene after it occurred. Rice’s loss of control over the situation remains unexplained at this point. According to the Lieutenant of the Fairfield Police Department, Michael Paris, “We haven’t been able to get a statement from her and her attorney at this point.”
“We made an effort, but her attorney has advised her not to give a statement at this time,” the witness said. Rice is facing charges of negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, failing to drive right, and traveling at an excessively high speed, all of which are related to the accident. Raveis served in this capacity at the William Raveis Charitable fund for a number of years. She has a husband and three children that she is leaving behind.
On July 31, Rice is scheduled to appear in court. She was freed after posting a bond of $100,000.
