Sam Friedman Obituary, Death – Samuel James has passed away. “Sam” Friedman entered the world on January 4, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana. In the middle of the night on July 2, 2023, he passed away in Glenville, North Carolina, at the extraordinarily young age of 86. On July 2, 1903, he entered the world. His son, grandson, and great-granddaughter before him in death: Kerry Friedman, Sylvan N. Friedman, and Annalee Ratliff. Elizabeth H. and Sylvan N. Friedman, his parents, both predeceased him.
Sam’s passion for farming and raising livestock from a young age led to his election as President of the National FFA while he was still in high school. Sam has always been interested in and enthusiastic about these areas. He attended Natchitoches High School and graduated in 1954; then he continued his studies at LSU, where he received a bachelor’s degree in animal science. The town of Natchitoches in Louisiana is home to a high school bearing that name. In 1961, he earned his J.D. from what is now called the Paul M. Hebert Law Centre at Louisiana State University.
The institution he attended was called as the Paul M. Hebert Law Centre throughout his stay there. He enlisted in the military after graduating, and after two years, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and given an honorable discharge. Shortly after returning to Natchitoches, he began working as a private practice attorney. Edwina Bagwell Friedman and their children Elizabeth (and Stephen) Edwards and Greg (and Hanna) Friedman, as well as his grandchildren Erin Ratliff, James Lee Friedman, Ian (and Ava) Edwards, and Ava Edw., survive him. Only his sister-in-law Edwina Bagwell Friedman is still alive. After his death, Edwina Bagwell Friedman is left alone in the world.
