Shooting At Southpark – At an automated teller machine (ATM) on the South Side, said to Chief McManus, a man opened fire and murdered two other individuals who purportedly attempted to rob him of his money. On Friday, the incident took place at a Chase bank located close to the intersection of SW Military Drive and I-35. A man shot and killed two other persons at an automated teller machine (ATM) on the South Side of San Antonio after he says that they attempted to rob him, according to William McManus, the Chief of Police for the city of San Antonio.
On Friday just before noon, a shooting took place at a Chase branch that was located close to SW Military Drive and Interstate 35. South Park Mall was not too far away from the location of the shooting. A man was driving up to an automated teller machine (ATM) in order to withdraw money when, according to McManus, he observed two people approaching him and suspected they were attempting to steal him of his money.
Following that, the man shot the other two men, ultimately taking their lives as a result of his actions. “It was a robbery that didn’t go well for the robbers,” said McManus. “It was an unsuccessful attempt.” They did not achieve their goals. It is unknown at this time whether the suspects in this instance were armed at any point throughout their activities. According to McManus, they are still having conversations with the individual, and at this point, it is not anticipated that any charges would be issued.
They plan to conduct additional interviews with him in the coming days. “That is something that is something that could change in the future, but as of right now, what we are looking at is the fact that he was the victim of a robbery and was acting in self defense,” McManus said. “That is something that could change in the future.” There is a very good chance that both the victim and the suspects are in their 20s. This is a very likely scenario.
