William Corry Obituary, Death – William Corry, who was affectionately known as “Bill,” “Uncle Billy,” and “Poppy,” passed away on July 13, 2023. It is with a heavy heart that we announce his loss because he was a resilient spirit. Bill’s life was a tribute to an exciting existence, a spirit of drive, and a captivating personality that never failed to light up a room. He was born on January 13, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his life spanned from that date forward. Bill was a man of many abilities who lived life with verve and bravery. He was a diligent worker who established Corry Enterprises, a company in which he created magic with his hands and thoughts.
He was also the founder of the company. Despite this, his spirit of adventure never stopped being active. Everyone who listened to his stories of exploration was inspired to pursue their own sense of adventure as a result of his talent as a traveler and writer. Maya Angelou famously said, “You can’t use up creativity,” and she was absolutely right. It is said that “the more you use, the more you have,” and Bill found this to be absolutely accurate in his life. Because of his contagious enthusiasm for life and creative spirit, he was the center of attention at every event. However, Bill’s family was the source of his greatest happiness.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Sunnie, and a doting father and husband to their children Stacy (Doug), Kimberly (Michael), Megan, and Shannon (Tom). As a monument to his love as a grandfather and great-grandfather, the titles “Geega,” “Grand Poppy,” and “Poppy” were the ones he wore with the most pride: “Poppy,” “Geega,” and “Poppy.” His grandchildren Shawn, Andrew, Courtney, Eric, Melanie, Nick, Brianna, Raleigh Sinclair, Katie, and Chloe, as well as his great-grandchildren Toby and Logan, will mourn his passing and miss him terribly. His sisters Helen, Edwina, Claire (Louie), Eileen, and Kathy (Dave) were also able to carry on his legacy after his passing.
Although Bill’s parents, Edwin and Helen Corry, have passed away, his legacy will continue to live on via his family and the countless people whose lives he impacted. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the Lambie Funeral Home located at 8000 Rowland Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19136. Prior to the memorial service, a celebration of Bill’s life will take place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the same day. We would be honored to have your company as we celebrate the life and legacy of this great individual. We strongly invite you to share your recollections, anecdotes, and images of Bill on the memorial page. This is done in honor of Bill’s lifelong passion for storytelling. Let us honor and remember William Corry, a man whose life was a wonderful trip and who served as a source of motivation for each and every one of us.
